Kevin Staab is awesome. He’s always so happy and his hair is always so purple. Kevin has been skating longer than most and was the first person to do the blunt on vert. Not that ollie blunt bullshit, but the one where you grab mute, hop in fakie and hope for the best. Like I said … he is awesome. Kevin had a Sims skateboard ad back in the day with the band, The Cult. Kevin worshiped the band and they had kind of a Jack Sparrow vibe before Johnny Depp got his pirate swagger on. Kevin’s belt is a throwback to when skateboarding was about being weird and cool. Kevin was always one of the coolest weirdos around … and still is.

I had a Powell Ripper board back when duct tape was a skate fashion accessory. I think I had the shirt, stickers, poster, all of it. Now, they’ve re-issued the Ripper deck for old farts like me to get all sappy & nostalgic. It’s working!

I’m not sure what to make of this. It’s a long board with a big stick to push with. Supposedly simulating stand-up paddle boarding. To me, it looks like a big-ass stick to impale yourself on if you go down. You know … chances are if you’re rolling around town with one of these rigs, your pushing mongo and probably not the most skilled skateboarder. To each his own. Consider it good practice for stand-up paddle surfing.

Chances are … if you have a piece of art hanging in your house depicting a mini-ramp under construction, you’re a true skater. I mean … it’s not like you’re going to see that hanging in Ben Affleck’s living room over the fireplace. Although … if I did, I might just forgive him for Gigli.

Magnesium is a very light metal. It’s also explosively flammable. We used to file old Tracker magnesium trucks into shavings and make blue flame explosions at the local ramp. I don’t know if you can do that with these Tensor trucks, but what a great bonus for a very light performance turning skateboard truck.
