Ever wonder what goes through a pro’s mind when they drop into the pipe for a contest run? A bunch of riders at the 2012 US Open Of Snowboarding were asked about that little bit of time from the start gate to the first hit. Pretty interesting stuff.
I myself would totally black out. I can remember what was going on in the start gate but as soon as I would drop my mind would go into auto pilot and instinct. Seriously, I think the only runs I can remember anything from are the ones where I made big mistakes.
