Supra’s new Society Mid is the latest in their collection of skate-inspired shoes. Often seen on hipster-types from Brooklyn, Supras can also be used to stand on a skateboard and do actual tricks. By tricks, I mean not just push mongo with a backpack full of DJ equipment.
Kevin Staab is awesome. He’s always so happy and his hair is always so purple. Kevin has been skating longer than most and was the first person to do the blunt on vert. Not that ollie blunt bullshit, but the one where you grab mute, hop in fakie and hope for the best. Like I said … he is awesome. Kevin had a Sims skateboard ad back in the day with the band, The Cult. Kevin worshiped the band and they had kind of a Jack Sparrow vibe before Johnny Depp got his pirate swagger on. Kevin’s belt is a throwback to when skateboarding was about being weird and cool. Kevin was always one of the coolest weirdos around … and still is.

Dane has a new board short out from Quiksilver. Quik has been releasing these little vid shorts to go with the new … shorts. Dane can surf really, really well. Making music … well, maybe not so much. Was that supposed to be Japanese in the beginning? Toward the end it sounded like Spanish being spoken by a Japanese person.

Oh man! Why more wetsuit brands don’t have fun with their suits is beyond me? Think of the fun you could have cartwheeling down to the water while trading imaginary blows with evil aliens? I mean … sure … everyone would stop what they’re doing and unblinkingly stare at you for an uncomfortable amount of time … but it’s all in the name of fun!
